Everything you need to know before you book

Quick answers about how Skiplagged works, how we find deals, and what to consider before choosing an itinerary.

Skiplagging (or hidden-city ticketing) means booking a flight with a layover in your actual destination, then ending your trip at that layover.

When these fares are available, Skiplagged shows them automatically in your search results with the final skipped flight crossed out. Availability depends on your route and travel dates.

How Skiplagging works →

A self-transfer itinerary combines separate flights—often from different airlines—to create a cheaper route. Because the airlines aren’t coordinating your connection, you’re responsible for getting from one flight to the next. You may need to check in again, change terminals, pass through security or customs, and collect and recheck your bags, so leave plenty of time between flights.

What to know about self-transfer flights →

Sometimes the cheapest round trip is made up of two separate one-way tickets. If you see “Book Departing” and “Book Returning” on a flight, you must complete both purchases separately to book your entire trip. Always review the final price on both checkout pages before purchasing, since fares can change.

How separate round-trip bookings work →

Price Hacker monitors eligible flight bookings for lower fares after purchase. If your fare drops by $15 or more, it secures the lower price while keeping your route, passengers, confirmation number, seat assignment, and baggage allowance the same. Most savings are issued as airline travel credit; if the lower fare is secured within 24 hours of your original ticket being issued, the difference is refunded to your original payment card. Always review your updated confirmation to make sure everything is correct.

How Price Hacker works →

For a skiplagging itinerary, bring only a backpack.

For a self-transfer itinerary, you can check bags, but you’ll need to collect and recheck them between flights. Leave extra connection time in case you also need to change terminals or go through security or customs again.
